Porsche servicing

Porsche servicing follows a defined schedule with a minor and a major service alternating, plus longer-interval items such as brake fluid on a strict time basis.

Parts, oils and labour rates are all higher than mainstream marques, and the gap between dealer and independent pricing is correspondingly wider - which is why comparing an itemised quote matters here more than anywhere.

Porsche service types

  • Minor service - engine oil and oil filter plus an inspection list.
  • Major service - additional filters, spark plugs where due, and a substantially longer inspection.
  • Brake fluid - a time-based change, typically every two years on Porsche schedules.
  • Taycan - no engine oil service; high-voltage system, coolant circuit, brake and cabin filter items instead.

Check the schedule for your exact model and year. Track use shortens intervals on several items.

Independent specialist or franchised dealer?

Both are legitimate options once the car is outside its warranty period, and many owners move to an independent specialist as the car ages. An independent that specialises in the marque will normally have the diagnostic software, the service literature and the model-specific experience that a general garage may not.

If your car is still under a manufacturer warranty or on a service plan, check the terms of that agreement before booking anywhere: the requirements around schedules, parts and record-keeping are set by the agreement, not by us.

  • Ask which diagnostic equipment and software the garage uses for the marque
  • Ask whether the service will be recorded in the service book or a digital service record, and what evidence you will receive
  • Ask what parts and oil specification are used, and whether they meet the manufacturer specification
  • Keep every invoice - documented history matters at resale

Serviced247 does not verify which garages specialise in Porsche. We only use the word specialist where a garage claims it and we hold verified evidence of that claim.

Common Porsche models owners ask about

Service requirements differ by engine and model year rather than by badge alone. The models below are the ones UK owners most often search about; the schedule for your specific car is the one in its handbook or service indicator.

  • Macan
  • Cayenne
  • 911
  • Taycan - electric, with a different schedule entirely

Before you book

  • Confirm which service type is actually due - not just the tier a garage offers
  • Get the quote itemised, including oil specification and parts
  • Agree an authorisation limit for any extra work
  • Check the MOT due date and consider combining the two visits
